What Is GVWR, and How Does It Effect What I Can Tow with My Vehicle?
GVWR is the gross vehicle weight rating on a trailer, and determines what a particular trailer is capable of. GVWR takes into account the weight of the trailer plus the payload.
If a trailer has a GVWR of 2990lbs, and the trailer weighs 1200lbs, the carry capacity or payload would be 2990lbs-1200lbs = 1790lbs.
There is also tongue weight that could be calculated to determine the maximum payload.
